While player talent and skills are important, you need experienced coaches to facilitate a team's success. The Vipers have a winning combination of highly experienced coaches that have a passion for the game.

Director of Coaching

Mike Faby

Coach Faby started playing lacrosse at the age of 5 in Baltimore, Maryland and absolutely LOVES the game of Lacrosse.

He graduated from St Paul’s School in 2010, helping his team to an MIAA Championship and #3 National Ranking.  As a three year starter at St Paul’s, Coach Faby finished behind Larry Ledoyan in ground balls (257) and faceoffs won (553 at 64%).  Coach Faby was ranked as a Top 25 Young Gun HM Recruit by Inside Lacrosse and was an Under Armour All American.  Throughout high school, he played on the first Breakers Lacrosse Club team for Coach Brian Holman, the current Utah Head Coach.

After graduating from St. Paul’s, Coach Faby went on to play for two years at Johns Hopkins, where his teams occupied the #1 ranking in the country before losing in the Quarterfinals in 2011 and 2012. Concussions ended his athletic career early but this kickstarted his passion for coaching.  He spent 2 years helping his Alma Mater at St Paul’s, turning a 0-17 team in 2012, into a MIAA runner up and #12 team in the nation by 2014.  In 2015, Coach Faby spent the spring on the sideline at McDonogh, helping Coach Hilgartner obtain another MIAA runner up finish and #14 national ranking.

Following the 2015 season, Coach Faby was named the Offensive Coordinator at Denison University, a DIII School in Granville, Ohio. While in Granville, Coach Faby revamped the offense towards more ball movement and offball motion, and was pivotal in creating the most efficient offense at the DIII level finishing the year #3 in the Nation.

After taking a step back in August 2015 to re-evaluate, Coach Faby decided to pack up his car and head west.  Once he arrived in California, he began working as an Assistant Coach at Menlo School as well as the Training Manager with ADVNC. While at ADVNC, he created content through practice plans for all of the regions.

In October 2016, Coach Faby was named the Head Coach at Archbishop Mitty High School, where he has helped the Monarchs improve to a Top 25 ranking in California during the abbreviated 2020 season. The Monarchs look to continue that trajectory as he aims to build a nationally competitive team in San Jose.

Coach Faby’s style is very different. He focuses on teaching players the fundamentals to prepare them to learn the tools to make intelligent decisions on the field. He coaches decision making to build a higher lacrosse IQ.  His goal is to use lacrosse as a vehicle to teach life lessons that apply far beyond the confines of the lacrosse field.
